- Finishing Touches for new houses: We are installing window shutters on the houses that were constructed in January/February of 2026. Seeing these homes fully finished and lived in is a reminder of why we do what we do! The wood shutters add a touch of distinction to the home and increase the level of pride that the family has with their new home.
- Expanding the School Lunch Program: We are excited to announce that we have added ten (10) additional primary schools to the school lunch program for Terms 2 and 3 of 2026! This adds about 4,000 additional “hungry” students to the program, bringing our grand total to roughly 35 schools and 15,000 children who are fed every single day – ensuring these kids have a reliable, nutritious meal which is vital to keeping them healthy and focused on their academic performance.
- Play Equipment for Schools: We recently met with our local Kenyan welder to contract for the construction of playground equipment for ten schools. This includes swing set, teeter totter, tall and short monkey bars, soccer goals, volleyball standards and net ball hoops. Working with local tradesmen is a core part of our mission to invest in the local economy and create producers, all while bringing joy to thousands of students.
It has been another busy and productive time for our staff and volunteers in Kenya! We are taking a moment to share some updates pertaining to our current projects.
The above accomplishments are possible because of the continued generosity of our donors and volunteers. Whether you have loaded a container in Wisconsin, sewn reusable sanitary pads, made a material or financial donation, YOU are giving Hope to the hopeless!
