The Helping Hands Kenya Family-to-Family Program
The core purpose of our Family to Family initiative is to provide immediate, meaningful support to some of the most vulnerable families within various villages in Kenya.
This targeted support is structured for exactly one year—12 months—designed specifically to give a family the boost that it needs. It is strictly intended as a hand-up, not a long-term financial dependency program!
How the Program Works
The Family to Family program matches a Helping Hands sponsor here in the USA with a family facing extreme hardship in Kenya.
- The Commitment: As a sponsor, your obligation is a donation of $400.
- The Impact: 100% of these funds are carefully utilized over the 12-month period to directly support and boost a specific family.
Accountability & Partnership
True partnership goes both ways. To ensure the success of the program, we hold our recipient families to a high standard.
Their obligations are to:
- Abide fully by the guidelines of the Family to Family Program.
- Express their appreciation and share a heartfelt “Thank You” to their US sponsors, documenting how their lives have benefited from the program.
- Leverage the items that they receive to lift them out of their poverty situation.
Personalized, Practical Support
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Each of our recipient families is managed individually, receiving what they need most to build a livelihood:
- Livestock: One or more animals, such as a dairy cow, sheep, goats, or chickens, to provide food and sustainable income.
- Micro-Transportation: Purchasing a donkey and cart so the family can earn a reliable living by providing essential local freight and delivery services.
- Agriculture: A large variety of high-quality vegetable seeds to secure a successful growing season and put food on the table.
On-the-Ground Stewardship
Our dedicated Helping Hands Kenya Development (HHKD) field staff is fully responsible for managing, monitoring, and tracking the success of this program.
- In-Person Visits: Our staff visits these families in person, carefully documenting all of their details and establishing a local contact person who will regularly follow up on their progress.
- Phased Funding: To ensure long-term stability and smart budgeting, the sponsor’s funds are disbursed in three equal installments over the course of the 12 months.
Every sponsor will receive the deep, lasting satisfaction of knowing that they are making a real, tangible difference in the life of a most needy family.
