Volunteer With Helping Hands Kenya
Not a Vacation — A Cultural Immersion . . .
When you join Helping Hands Kenya for a humanitarian experience, you are signing up for a journey that goes far beyond the typical vacation. You are stepping into a profound cultural immersion experience where you will live, learn, and work alongside villagers in Central Kenya.
From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed as an honored guest and treated with warm, gracious, and sincere hospitality by the people we serve. We work directly in coordination with local Kenyan volunteers, village elders, school headmasters, and a variety of locals. This established local infrastructure ensures that our shared efforts are meaningful, safe, and truly impactful.
What You Will Do
Your daily schedule is designed to be entirely flexible, allowing for work, rest, relaxation, and time to enjoy your interaction with the locals. All activities are optional, allowing you to tailor your experience to your physical abilities and personal interests. If you need a day of rest, you are free to take it.
On any given day, you can choose to be a carpenter, painter, teacher, artist, entertainer or simply a friend who listens. Activities and projects include:
- Construction/Painting: Assisting with new home construction
- Craft Project in a local school: Engaging in activities with primary school children
- Immersion: Home visits, fetching water, cooking lunch, taking time to share a smile, a hug, and meaningful conversation with local villagers
What You Will Get Out Of It
Serving those in need provides a memorable level of personal satisfaction that is very rewarding. You will leave Kenya with a deeper understanding of poverty, having built genuine relationships with the people you worked alongside. The experience of seeing and feeling the immediate, tangible difference you make leaves a lasting mark on your heart and reshapes your perspective long after you return home. You will clearly understand what it means to give Hope to the most marginalized!
